# A single uploaded page becomes your home page

A static upload with just one HTML page is served as the site root, whatever the file is called.

Until now, a static upload needed an `index.html`. If you uploaded a single page called `landing.html`, you had to rename it first.

Now, when the folder you serve holds exactly one HTML page, Unbroker serves it at `/` for you.

#### When we still ask for index.html

- **Several pages at the top level:** nothing tells us which one is the home page.
- **A multi-page site:** renaming one page would break links to it.
- **A lone page inside a subfolder:** that's a subpage, not the front door.

The upload dropzone follows the same rules, and a green check means the upload will be accepted.
